NIA cracks Ansar ul Khalifa module, 6 arrested in Kannur for planning ISIS style attacks.



Ansar ul Khalifa was an online Jihadi module with up to 25 members with ISIS ties. They were found planning various types of attacks across Kerala. Headed by an NIT Calicut graduate Shajeer(Killed in Afghanistan), they operated in secret Facebook and Multiple telegram groups. 6 were arrested from a meeting in Kannur where they were targeting politicians in Kerala and Tamilnadu. Their confiscated mobiles revealed that many more attacks were in the works. Many details of this group was revealed by NIA during a court hearing in 17May2019.

Plan to Attack RSS

They had tragetted RSS members in Kozhikode for an attack in 2016 to show the strength and reach of ISIS. But it was called off due to various reasons.

Attack on Law and Enforcement

They had also made plans to kill two High-court judges and a senior police officer named Unni Rajan.

Attack on interfaith peace meet




The group was planning a Nice-style (truck loaded with explosives) attack on a public gathering in September 2016 led by Jamaat-e-Islami. The gathering included Rahul Eeswar and other Hindu faith leaders. The motive was to attack Muslims who make peace with Kafirs as they too are enemies of Islam. However NIA found out about it and the venue was changed to an indoor location.
